5 Cool and Best iPhone Wallpaper Apps You Should Install

One of the downsides of owning an iOS device is the fact that there’s not a lot you can do to customize your smartphone’s interface. When it comes to interface customization, Android has iOS beaten by a mile. The only real customization a user can perform on their iPhones is changing its wallpaper. And if you are like me, you tend to change your wallpaper a lot. Personally, I change wallpapers on my iPhone X almost every other day. To keep up with all my wallpapers needs, I have installed a couple of wallpaper apps on my iPhone X. In this article, I am going to share those apps with you. If you are interested in iPhone wallpapers, here are the 5 cool and best wallpaper apps for iPhone you should install on your iPhone

5 Cool and Best iPhone Wallpaper Apps You Should Install

All of the apps featured on this list offer a free version of the app with ads. If you want to remove the ads and unlock extra features, you can purchase the pro version of these apps via the in-app purchases.

  1. Vellum

  2. Background

  3. WLPPR

  4. ZEDGE Wallpaper

  5. Papers.com

1. Vellum

Vellum is a great wallpaper app for iPhone. Although the app doesn’t hot a ton of wallpapers, each wallpaper on this app looks and feels beautiful. I especially like this app because it allows me to see how a wallpaper will look on my iPhone without even having to download it. There’s also a blur functionality in the app which lets you adjust the blur parameters of the wallpapers. I was really surprised how many cool wallpapers I can create just by blurring the original ones. Lastly, all the wallpapers featured on Vellum are iPhone X optimized which is a great plus in my books. If you like quality wallpapers and doesn’t want to spend hours finding one, Vellum is just for you.

2. Background

Background is the wallpaper app that I install as soon as I get a new iPhone. The app sources its wallpapers from Unsplash, a photography website which hosts thousands of stock photos. In fact, Unsplash has its own macOS and iOS wallpaper apps. However, unlike its macOS counterpart which I mentioned in the best free Mac apps article, I prefer Background on iOS because the app curates and picks the pictures which will look good as iPhone wallpapers and saves me a ton of time. There are two features of this app which are my absolute favorite. The first is the fact that the app is updated daily with new wallpapers. And the second feature which I love about this app is that it makes it very easy to download wallpapers. Just tap and hold on the wallpaper you like and it will be downloaded to your iPhone. I mean, nothing can be easier than that.

3. WLPPR

If you love wallpapers which showcase the Earth’s topography, flora, and fauna in all its beauty, WLPPR is just the app for you. The app features various collections of wallpapers including earth, mars, mankind, winter, water, and more. The first collection which is called WLPPR Original in unlocked by default, but you will have to manually unlock the rest of the collection by sharing the app on your social media profiles. Believe me, when I say this, you won’t find even one bad wallpaper on this app. Every wallpaper is high res and will look beautiful on your iPhone. My favorite feature of this app is its preview capability. Just like Vellum, it lets you see how the wallpapers will look on your iPhone before you even download it. You can even switch between different wallpapers without leaving the preview mode, a feat even Vellum cannot perform.

4. ZEDGE Wallpaper

ZEDGE Wallpaper is an app for iPhone owners who love abstract, colorful, and artistic wallpapers. The app features other kinds of wallpapers too, however, I mainly use it for the above-mentioned categories of wallpapers. The wallpapers featured on this app look beautiful and they can help you personalize your iPhone. You can choose wallpapers which feature your favorite characters, quotes, or anything with which you can identify yourself. You don’t necessarily have to do that, however, if you want to, the option is there. Just like Vellum, the app also lets you preview wallpapers before you download them.

5. Papers.co

The last good wallpaper app on this list Papers.co, and it’s yet another excellent wallpaper app for your iPhone. The app features a ton of wallpapers which are categorized into numerous categories. All the wallpapers are of high quality and look beautiful. What I love about this app is that it features a lot of dark wallpapers which look amazing on my iPhone X. That said, there is one thing that I don’t like about this app. The app features too many ads and you will have to be careful to avoid hitting them. Other than that, I have no complaints. This is a great wallpaper app and I know you are going to love it.

5 Cool and Best iPhone Wallpaper Apps: Final Thoughts

If I wanted, I could have made a list which consisted of ten or even fifteen wallpaper apps. However, I wanted to keep this list short and give you only the apps which I personally use. I know that these apps feature only quality wallpapers. Quality is always better than quantity and that statement holds true in the case of wallpaper apps more than on any other kind of iOS apps.
