7 Best iPhone X Accessories to Supercharge Your iPhone (U)

7 Best iPhone X Accessories to Supercharge Your iPhone (U)

It’s been over six months since I first got my iPhone X and I am in love with it. For the last couple of years, upgrading to a new iPhone didn’t seem to bring any major advantage over the previous generation iPhones. With iPhone X, that statement no longer stands true. If you can afford it, this is the iPhone to get as it changes the very way you interact with your favorite device. For me, gesture navigation on the iPhone X is a big enough reason to upgrade to this iPhone. Since I used gestures on iPhone X, using any other smartphone feels like going back to stone age.

That said, iPhone X is not without its faults and if you really want to unleash its power and use it to the best of its abilities, you will have to buy some cool accessories to go with it. Over the past six months, I have bought and used many iPhone X accessories and now I am comfortable enough to share my favorite ones with you. The accessories that I am going to mention in this article will not only enhance your iPhone X experience but also protect it so you can use it for a long time. I have paid $1000 for this product and I want to make sure that I get my money’s worth. With that said, here are my top 7 iPhone X accessories to help you supercharge your iPhone:

Note: The prices mentioned here reflect the prices of the product at the time of publishing this article and may vary in future.

Best iPhone X Accessories

I have personally bought and used most of the accessories mentioned on this list. However, there are some which are still on my wishlist and I have not had the time or money to buy them. Rest assured, every product that you see on this list has been thoroughly researched and has only made the list because the product is useful and has received great reviews from buyers:

1. Totallee Clear Thin Case for iPhone X

I have a love and hate relationship with cases. I love cases because they protect my device but I hate them because they add bulk and take away the fresh feeling of a brand new iPhone. After experimenting with more than a dozen cases including the Apple ones, the one case which won my heart by striking the perfect balance between protection and heft is the Totallee clear thin case. The case is super thin and doesn’t add any noticeable bulk to the iPhone X. It comes in different colors and my favorite is the clear back case which allows me to see the beauty of my iPhone X.

If you hate cases, try out this one, I am a 100% confident that you are going to love it. Do remember that it won’t be able to protect your iPhone X in extreme drop conditions, but in normal conditions it gets the job done. I have dropped my iPhone X from waist and table height a couple of times after putting the Totallee case, and till now it has survived. If you want extreme protection, you will have to go for a bulky case, like this one from OtterBox. I personally have not used it but have heard good things about it.

Pro Tip: If you use screen protectors, check out the Maxboost iPhone X Tempered Glass Screen Protector.

2. Metrans Lighting to USB-C Cable

If you own both an iPhone and a Mac, this one is a no-brainer. Carrying a USB-C to lightning cable allows you to connect your iPhone to your MacBook Pro without any dongles or docks. Also with iPhone X, you get an added advantage of carrying one less charging brick and getting fast charging. Yes, you can use your 13-inch MacBook Pro’s charger to charge your iPhone X. All the 2018 iPhones, including the iPhone X, support fast charging, yet, Apple doesn’t ship a fast charging adapter in the box and want you to spend another $70+ for a buying a new cable and a charging brick. While Apple is happy to sell you overpriced accessories, I would recommend this cable from Metrans as not only it’s cheap, it’s also breaded, meaning it’s more durable. If you own an iPhone X, this is one of the best investments that you can make. Once you experience fast charging, you won’t be able to go back.

3. Apple AirPods

When Apple first announced AirPods, I was one of the skeptics who thought that it was another one of Apple’s mistake like the ugly Smart Battery Case. But, after using the AirPods for over six months now, count me as one of its loudest lovers. I love AirPods so much that I believe they are one of the top most products Apple has ever created. They might not be the best sounding wireless earbuds in the market and they are certainly pricey, but boy are they convenient. There’s a high chance that if you own an iPhone X, you have already purchased AirPods. Still, I wanted to include this product for the people who are still skeptics of this brilliant product.

If you don’t like AirPods, just do one thing, go to your nearest Apple Store and open the lid of the Airpods' case near your iPhone. You won’t need any further evidence to get convinced. I love how easily AirPods connect to my iPhone X, how easily I can switch the connection to my other devices (granted they are logged in with same Apple ID), how they seem to last forever, and how easy they make attending calls or using Siri. You should at least give AirPods a chance before writing them off.

Pro Tip: If you buy the AirPods, check out this protective AirPods case.

4. Mophie Charge Stream Pad+

It’s been almost a year since Apple announced their own AirPower mat, however, the product is nowhere to be seen. If you are still holding out for it and heard the rumors that Apple will introduce AirPower this year, good for you. For everyone else, I recommend that you buy the Charge Stream Pad+ by Mophie. This charger constantly outputs 10W charge to any Qi-enabled smartphone, iPhone X being one of them. While wireless charging is still way behind wired charging when it comes to speed, it is a lot more convenient. And if you are still using the charging adapter that comes with the iPhone X, I would say that you are not losing much on speed either.

I have the Charge Stream Pad+ on my bedside table, and I just put my iPhone X there right before I go to sleep. Even during the day when I am not using my iPhone, it’s usually lying on the charger. This has benefitted me in two ways. First and the more obvious one is that I always have my iPhone X charged up whenever I am ready to leave. The second and the unexpected benefit is that now I have formed a habit of putting my phone in the same place and I no longer misplace or lose it. One thing that I forgot to mention before is that it works even with a case on, so you don't have to worry if you use a case on your iPhone X.

5. Anker PowerCore 20100mAh

This one is for all the travelers. If you travel a lot and don’t want to spend your free time hunting for a wall plug, keeping an external power bank will save you. I make sure to keep an external power bank in my bag as you never know when you will need extra juice. I personally use the Mophie Powerstation ($199.95) as it churns out up to 100W of power which allows me to charge my MacBook Pro (a side benefit of having USB-C ports) while using it. But, it’s too costly and if you are looking for an external battery pack just to charge your iPhones or iPads, the Anker PowerCore makes more sense. It brings almost the same charge capacity (20100 mAh against the 22,000 mAh on the Mophie) at less than one-fourth the price of Mophie. You can use it to charge your MacBook too, however, not while using it. If you are just going to use the power bank for charging your iPhone X or any other iPhone and iPad, the Anker PowerCore brings a far better value for money.

6. Moment Lenses

iPhones have always been at the top of smartphone photography ladder and the iPhone X is certainly one of the best camera phones one can buy. That said, at the end of the day even the mighty iPhone X is just a smartphone and there is only so many things that you can do with a smartphone camera. If you want to take pictures with your iPhone X which no one can, you need to use Moment Lenses. Moment is a company which sells custom design lenses which can attach to the back of your iPhone X’s camera using a case ($29.99). There are mainly five types of lenses; anamorphic lens, wide lens, tele portrait lens, superfish lens, and macro lens

With the help of these lenses, you can capture some amazing photos with your iPhone X. The only con with these lenses is that they are pretty pricey. The lenses start at $89.99, but they are worth it. If you love smartphone photography and want to take yours to the next level, investing in the Moment lenses is the best thing you can do. If you are still not convinced, just visit Moment’s website to see the kind of pictures users have taken using Moment lenses. They would blow your mind away.

7. OLEBR iPhone X, Apple Watch, and AirPods Charging Stand

This product has been on my radar forever, however, since I prefer to use a wireless charging mat, I never got around to buy it. This combo charging stand from OLEBR allows you to charge your iPhone X, AirPods, and Apple Watch simultaneously. The whole set up looks really cool as you can see in the picture below. What I love about this charging stand is that the height of the charging port is adjustable. Thus, no matter which case you are using, you won’t have to take it off before charging your iPhone X. I have seen many users buying a charging stand only to find out that the stand is not case compatible. This is a frustrating experience which you won’t have to go through if you buy this charging dock. The last thing that you need to know is that it comes in various colors including black, silver, rose gold, and space gray. So, if you want to color match the charging stand to your device, you can do that.

Update: ToastMade Covers for iPhone X

I am generally against putting any skin or case on my laptop. However, when I found out about the wood covers from ToastMade, I was intrigued, to say the least. If you have never heard of the company before, they are a US-based company who make real wood and leather covers for MacBooks, iPhones, and other popular gadgets. I was really impressed by their wood covers so I decided to order them for both my iPhone X and MacBook Pro. Having used it for well over a few weeks now, I can wholeheartedly recommend their products here. While the covers are not cheap by any standard, they deserve every cent you spend on them.

One thing that I love about ToastMade covers is that you can get a custom design engraved on it. While I went with no custom design on my MacBook Pro, I did get it customized for my iPhone X, as you can see in the picture above. If you have used skins or covers in the past, one thing you will appreciate is that the ToastMade covers do not require any heating prior to installation. You just peel off the covers and stick it on your product. I really love these covers and highly recommend that you check them out. Finally, I just wanted to point out that I am in no way receiving an affiliate income from ToastMade. I just loved their products and wanted to share with our readers.
