# Mozilla Is Shutting Down Pocket: (Alternatives Included)

> Mozilla is shutting down Pocket, the handy bookmarking tool used to save articles and webpages for later. The [organization announced](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/future-of-pocket) that Pocket will stop working on July 8th, 2025, [as Mozilla begins concentrating](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/future-of-pocket) its “resources into projects that better match their browsing habits and online needs.”

Mozilla says it will start automatically canceling subscriptions as well, and will issue prorated refunds to users subscribed to its annual plan on July 8th.

Pocket was my first read-it-later service. I moved to [Omnivore](https://www.appsntips.com/omnivore-review-read-it-later-app-you-need/) a few years back, but it too was killed in 2024\. Now I have switched to [***GoodLinks***](https://apps.apple.com/in/app/goodlinks/id1474335294) as it offers a native app for Mac, which few read-it later service seem to do.

If you are okay with subscription pricing, you might get better value out of [***Readwise Reader***](https://readwise.io/i/appsntips) or [***Matter***](https://hq.getmatter.com/).

It's sad to see a beloved product reach its demise. But subscription pricing and the digital graveyard are two things no app or digital service can seem to escape.
