Apple Just Knocked $400 Off Its Premium Studio Display XDR

Skip the stand, save $400. Apple's top-tier monitor finally makes a little more sense.

Studio Display XDR front

Apple rarely cuts prices on its products, especially less than a month after launch. So when a $400 price drop quietly appeared on the Studio Display XDR, it was hard not to do a double-take.

The Studio Display XDR launched last month with a starting price of $3,299, regardless of whether you chose the VESA mount option or the model with Apple's tilt-adjustable stand.

Both configurations started at the same price, which, in hindsight, seemed a little odd. Apple has now corrected that by dropping the VESA mount option to $2,899, while the stand model remains at $3,299.

A roughly 12% price cut in under a month is nearly unheard of for an Apple product. Whether the original pricing was an oversight or a deliberate strategy, it's a rare and welcome move.

Should you buy one?

If you already own a VESA-compatible stand and have been eyeing Apple's top-of-the-line monitor, this is a genuine reason to reconsider. It's one of the best accessoires to buy for your Mac Studio or Mac mini. You get the same stunning display for $400 less, and you get to keep using the stand already on your desk.

You can purchase it from Apple’s official website or Amazon. Amazon often provides additional discounts, so it is worth keeping an eye out. You may be able to save even more.
