iPhone 17 Pro (Silver) - Unboxing + First Impressions

The iPhone 17 Pro has a very functional design. I didn’t like the leaks, was slightly convinced by the hands on videos, and now that I have the phone in my hands, let’s check it out. In this article, I am going to share my unboxing and first impressions of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Taking a look at the box
Before we get to the iPhone 17 Pro, let’s take a look at the box itself. The box features the back of the phone, which is different from last year’s iPhone 16 Pro’s box, which showcased the display.

For fun, here’s the box next to the iPhone Air’s box, which features a side profile highlighting the iPhone's slimness. By the way, we have already published an article covering the unboxing of the iPhone Air, which you can read by clicking the link.
Unboxing and first impressions
Now, let’s unbox the iPhone 17 Pro and take a look at the phone itself. The unboxing experience is the same. There are two pull tabs that you can tear to get access to the phone.
Just like the box’s design, you are greeted with the backside of the phone, which looks striking. It is a more opinionated design. Some people will love it while others will hate it.

I personally find it growing on me. The silver iPhone 17 Pro is the best color for this year’s Pro iPhones, in my opinion. It has the added benefit of not getting scratches on the paint job.
The Blue and Orange colors are too flashy for me. But here’s a shot of them I took at the Apple Store when I went to pick up my iPhone, so make of them what you will.

Other than the iPhone, the box only contains a USB-C to USB-C braided charging cable and a SIM ejector tool in regions where the 17 Pro still has a SIM slot.
iPhone 17 Pro specifications
Apple has made several improvements to the iPhone 17 Pro, packing a 4,252 mAh battery, which is almost 19% bigger than the outgoing iPhone 16 Pro, an improved 48MP telephoto camera, a new 18MP selfie camera, a faster A19 Pro chipset, a superior vapor chamber cooling system, and more.

I can tell you right now that the curved edges make it sit more comfortably in the hands, even though the iPhone 17 Pro is 7 grams heavier, clocking at 205 grams, and also slightly thicker than the 16 Pro.

I still prefer the iPhone 15 Pro's size. It was the perfect form factor for people who wanted a big display and still be able to use the phone with one hand. But phones are getting bigger and we cannot do anything about it, so there’s that.
I will test all these features extensively, so if you have any questions, drop them in the comments below, and I will answer all your questions in my review.
Silver iPhone 17 Pro unboxing: final thoughts
My first impression of the iPhone 17 Pro is that it doesn’t look as bad as I thought. The design is certainly growing on me and I prefer it’s in hand feel more than the previous few generations of Pro iPhones.
The iPhone also feels like a dream come true for Pro users and creators with its big battery and improved cameras. We will publish our full review in two weeks. Make sure you don’t miss it if you want all the details.
