Best MacBook Pro Screen Protector to Buy

Since Apple Adopted the new slimmer design language for the MacBook Pro in 2016, I have had a display issue that is not talked about a lot in the mainstream media. As time passes and you use your MacBook Pro, the oil from your fingers deposit on the keys, which later transfers to the display. If you don’t clean the screen periodically, the imprint becomes permanent. This is what happened to my first MacBook Pro, and I hated how it looked. Since then, I have been using a screen protector on my MacBook Pro. If you don’t want to disfigure the display on your MacBook Pro, you should do the same thing. Here are the best MacBook Pro screen protectors to buy in 2020.

Note: I have included screen protectors for MacBook Pro 13-inch, MacBook Pro 15-inch, and MacBook Pro 16-inch. So no matter which model of your MacBook Pro you are using, you will find a screen protector for your Mac here.

Apart from protecting the display from fingerprint imprints, the MacBook Pro screen protector also protects the display from scratches and scuffs. And if you buy an anti-glare screen protector, it will also help with the visibility of the screen when you are working outside. Below is the table of content that lists all the screen protectors mentioned on this list. You can click on the triangle button below to reveal the table of contents.

1. Moshi iVisor Pro Screen Protector

My favorite screen protector, whether it be for the MacBook Pro or the iPad Pro, comes from a company called Moshi. Its iVisor line of screen protectors is the best in business. The best thing about this screen protector is that it reduces the glare, allowing you to see the display, even in bright sunlight. Not only that, but it also reduces the screen’s glare on your eyes, thereby protecting your eye-sight.

Another neat feature of the iVisor screen protector is that it is washable and can be repeatedly reapplied. I have not seen any screen protector on the market that can do it. Also, it provides the best screen protector installation experience. And it comes with a 10-year global warranty, so you know that you are getting a legitimate product. If you can afford the slightly premium price, I will suggest that you buy this.

Buy from Amazon → $36.95 (Available for 13-inch, 15-inch, and 16-inch MacBook Pro models)

2. Supershieldz for Apple MacBook Pro

If you are looking for a cheaper option, check out the Supershieldz screen protector for the Apple MacBook Pro. At $10.99, this is one of the cheapest screen protectors that you can buy. Oh, and it comes in a pack of 3, so you the price of one screen protector comes out to only about $3.66.

The screen protector uses anti-glare film material that reduces the glare and fingerprints on the display panel. While the anti-glare effect is not as good as the Moshi one, it is significant. It can handle scratches and scuffs emerging from daily usage or the laptop and doesn’t leave any residue when you remove it.

3. Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector

If you want extra protection for the display, you will be better off by investing in a tempered glass screen protector for the MacBook Pro. Spigen makes some of the best accessories for Apple products, and their Glas.tR line screen protectors for MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone is good.

Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector

The screen protector uses layered tempered glass with 9H hardness, that can easily handle abrasions and minor impacts. The layers include anti-dust nano-coating, tempered glass, OCA, PET, silicone resin, and a release film. The screen protector is crystal clear and protects the original visibility of the display. But since its clear, you will not get any anti-glare effect with this one.

Buy from Amazon → $28.99 (for 13-inch MacBook Pro) / $30.99 (for 15-inch MacBook Pro) / $32.99 (for 16-inch MacBook Pro)

4. SightPro Magnetic Privacy Screen for MacBook Pro

I don’t use any privacy screen protector for my devices, but they are quite popular. The reduction in display quality is not worth it for me. But if you are someone who can see themselves as using a privacy screen protector on your MacBook Pro, it might be for you, as it’s the best one of the market.

The screen protector magnetically attaches to the display using magnets at the top of the panel. That means you can remove it easily, and only use it when you are outside and need its protection. The screen protector enhances privacy by blacking out your screen when viewing from the side, and ensuring that only you can view it.

The company claims that the view from the front is crystal clear, but that’s not what I felt. I can see some reduction in quality, but then again, maybe I am just extra-sensitive to it.

Other features of the screen protector include an anti-glare coating that reduces the glare on the screen and a blue-light filter that protects your eyes. Now the research is not conclusive whether blue-light harms our eyes in the long-run, it has been more or less confirmed that it messes with our sleeping cycle. Whether true or not, it doesn’t harm to have extra protection.

Kensington MP13 MacBook Magnetic Privacy Screen

Another good privacy screen protector for the MacBook Pro is the Kensington MacBook Magnetic Privacy Screen. If for some reason, you don’t like the SightPro one, you can check it out.

Buy from Amazon → $32.99 (for 13-inch MacBook Pro) / $34.99 (for 15-inch MacBook Pro) / $35.99 (for 16-inch MacBook Pro)

5. MacBook Pro Screen Protector Anti-Glare Blue Light Filter

If you want the blue-light filter and anti-glare properties but don’t care about the privacy aspects, you can buy this screen protector for a significantly cheaper price. The screen protector uses a 7-layer construction in an ultra-thin 0.15 mm sheet. Thanks to the thinner glass pane, you don’t lose out on the display quality.

That said, you will lose some peak brightness because of the anti-glare coating. The company also claims that you won’t encounter any bubbles when installing the screen protector, but I have not used it, so I cannot comment on that aspect. It has good ratings on Amazon, which goes in its favor.

Buy from Amazon → $19.79 (for MacBook Pro 13-inch)

MacBook Pro Screen Protectors: Final Thoughts

There are several screen protectors on Amazon and other stores, but these five are the best. I have used the screen protectors from iVisor, Spigen, and Supershieldz, and can attest to their quality.

The last two are for people who are looking for extra features such as privacy protection or blue-light filtering. While I have not used them, I have friends who have bought these screen protectors and are happy with the outcome.

If you are asking for a personal recommendation, the Moshi iVisor, although costly, is the best in my opinion. But you don’t have to stick with my choice. That’s I have included several other options on the list.
