iPhone 17 Pro TechWoven Case Review: Hit or Miss?

Last year, Apple introduced a new Fine Woven case for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, which proved to be a disappointment. The case was not very durable, and it scratched up and discolored after just a few weeks of use. Apple has replaced that with a new TechWoven case series. In this review, we’re checking out the iPhone 17 Pro TechWoven Case to see if it’s really worth the price.
Unboxing the iPhone 17 Pro TechWoven case
Like all other iPhone cases, the TechWoven case comes in a quality cardboard box with a pull tab for a tool-free unboxing experience. Just tear open the tab and slide out the case.

Inside the box, you will find the case front and center, along with some paperwork. The case is available in Blue, Purple, Sienna, Green, and Black. I got the black color as it seemed to be the best fit for my Silver iPhone 17 Pro.

At first glance, the case doesn’t look truly black. It’s more of a charcoal gray, with a hint of blue showing through in certain lighting conditions.

TechWoven case review: design and feel
Taking the case in my hand, I can already tell that the in-hand feel will be decisive. The back of the case is made from recycled woven polyester material that feels coarse to the touch, similar to rough denim, while the sides utilize a textured, rubbery material.

I like woven cases, so the texture doesn’t bother me — but I can see how some people might find it a bit cheap, especially for its $59 price tag. The bottom of the case features precise cutouts for the USB-C charging port, speaker grills, and lanyard attachment points for Apple’s crossbody strap.

The inside of the case also features a woven material, though it’s a bit finer than the outside and doesn’t feel as coarse. You also get magnets for MagSafe compatibility.

The case offers ample lip around the camera module and the display, so you don’t have to worry about scratching either when you put your phone on the table.

Buttons are the highlight of this case for me. They are made from anodized aluminum and are extra clicky. The camera control button is also top-notch and works flawlessly.

Build quality and durability
The TechWoven case is built well. It feels solid and will definitely protect your iPhone 17 Pro against accidental drops. I’ve only been using this case for a week, so I can’t say much about its long-term durability, but I did run a few tests to see how it holds up.
First, I tried to scratch the case with my keys. Surprisingly, I did not see any scratches on the case. I didn’t even need to clean the case; the scratches did not even appear on the case.

Then I tried rubbing some dirt and soil on the case and left it for a few minutes. I cleaned the case using a disposable wipe, and the TechWoven case was pristine again.

TechWoven case for iPhone 17 Pro review: final thoughts
While these tests are not scientific, I can honestly say that the issues that marred the release of last year’s Fine Woven cases are not a concern. The TechWoven case is durable and can take day-to-day abuse without showing any wear and tear. If you don’t dislike the texture and in-hand feel of the case, I say you can buy this case.
