Is Reddit Breaking on Purpose for Logged-Out Users?

I get my social media and news fix through Reddit. Since I don’t want to go down the Reddit rabbit hole, I browse it on a desktop without logging into my Reddit account.
Lately, I have noticed that Reddit is forcing me to create an account and log in by breaking its pages. If I click on a couple of threads to open them in new tabs, at least 20-30% of those threads will load in a broken view.
I have tested this on Google Chrome, Arc Browser, Mozilla Firefox, and several other popular Chromium browsers. In each of these browsers, opening Reddit threads without logging in randomly breaks some of the threads I open. The only browser where this problem is non-existent is the Safari browser on my Mac.

Once you log into your Reddit account, this problem disappears. I have tested this theory over the course of two weeks across several browsers. The only conclusion I can draw is that Reddit is deliberately breaking its UI to force users to create an account.
However, this theory might be flawed, as several other factors could be influencing the outcome. If you're a Reddit user, I encourage you to test this theory and share your experience in the comments—let me know if it's happening to you as well.
